Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas again!

I just wanted to add the details about our class Christmas party. We will have it on Wednesday, December 19, 2007. There will be cupcakes, cookies and juice (my treat).I will have a gift for each child. There won't be a gift exchange between students. In past experiences it seems to cause more pain than joy.

We will have our party during our morning snack time so unless your child is in aftercare you won't need to send snack that day.

Again, let me wish you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you one and all! May your holiday season be filled with love, peace, joy, good health and better time management skills than mine.

Christmas is the theme for the month of December. We will count and graph Santa's snacks as well as continue with number recognition. There will be lots of Christmas stories for Language Arts and Social Studies.

We will have a party. I will let you know the details in a few days.

Please continue to to review the letters and numbers that have been taught so far. Just a few minutes a day can make a big difference.

Have a great week! I welcome any and all comments. Let me hear from you, okay!

Happy Thanksgiving

I can hardly believe that the holiday season is already upon us. There is so much to do with so litttle time! This will be the only blog that I will post for the rest of the month so I will try to cover everything.

We will cover the letters Ll, Mm, Nn, and Pp. The students will learn to recognize the letter, its sound and how to write it. Please continue to review the letters learned previously with your child at home.

I have decided not to send the flash cards home again until after we come back from Christmas break. More time is needed to master letter/sound recognition.

We will continue working on our math readiness skills including: counting, number recognition, writing the numbers 1-20 and the concepts of more and fewer.

Our Thanksgiving Feast will be on Monday, November 19. Our sign up sheet will be on the bulletin board outside my door. Please sign up for what you would like to bring. If ther is something that you'd like to bring that isn't on the menu, I am open to any suggestions, we plan to eat at our regular time 11:30 am.

K-4 News

Welcome back! I hope that everyone had a great fall break.

This week we will continue to celebrate the wonderful fall season with our Fall Festival on this Thursday,October 25, 2007 from 5;30 to 7:00. There will be lots of fun and games for the entire family to enjoy. Come and join in the fun! Our class will host the ring toss along with Mr. Hanlon's homeroom. We need different soda in different sized containers. That is what will be tossed for. You can send in your soda donations ASAP. Thank you so much!!!!

Don't forget about our trip to the Pumpkin Patch on Thursday. We will leave the school at 8:00 so please be on time so that we can all leave together as a group. If for some reason you can't get here, there will be directions left at the front desk in the elementary office.

Our letter this week will be Gg. We will learn to recognize the letter, its sound and how to form the letter. We will also continue to review letters learned previously. There will be more words added to our sight word flash cards as well.

Math Readiness skills will include the concept of more and fewer. The students will use unifix cubes and various counters in the classroom to reinforce this concept.

Thanks for the comments on the blog. Please feel free to make more.

Have a great week!
